Dawn grew up in Hebburn on South Tyneside, the land of Ship Building and the heart of British industry. Although she has travelled and lived away, she now finds herself back in her beloved North East, working from her little studio in Weardale, County Durham. Dawn’s current body of work ; “Moving Forward, looking back” is based upon reflection and memory. It encompasses tiny glimpses and cherished insights to a happy childhood spent with family and friends. Since the passing of her dad in 2013, Dawn has found creating this artwork therapeutic. A way in which, to convey her deepest feelings of love and loss, joy and sadness. A celebration of childhood, of fun and of love…. But mostly, of growing up.
Her naïve characters and colourful backgrounds convey deep and meaningful messages, which resonate deeply with the viewer.
