George Levitt works mainly in watercolour but on occasion does chose oil’s. He is self-taught and has a traditional approach to his work, George works from his home studio in Pelton, Chester – Le – Street.
George choses to photograph local scenes such as Durham and the cost of Tyneside. From these photos he can paint from his own images and experiences. This allows the light within his work to be as natural as possible. George tries to catch the scene as it is so it is recognised easily by the viewer. Water is his favourite study as it can vary so much in colour and movement.
