Jan Szymczuk is a local artist working in a variety of mediums which include oils, acrylics, pastels, pencil and has a vast experience digital art. Jan loves sketching and painting to a photorealistic level of detail. Born in Stannington, Morpeth, where Jan now lives and has his own home studio where he holds weekly art workshops. Jan is a self-taught artist. Recently retired, in 2009, as the senior police artist in the Metropolitan Police Service based at New Scotland Yard London.
Currently teaches in his studio to groups or on a one to one basis and is available for demonstrations and workshops to local art groups and communities, and available for commission work.
In 2015 Jan was one of the ten finalists in the BBC TV series, The Big Painting Challenge. Jan is currently is the Artist Acrylic Ambassador for the SAA.
‘My work reflects everything I see, love and experience in life, and as an artist, I strive to create this on canvas and paper. My creed is a simple one, I try and paint what I see’.
All original artwork and commissions are created in his home studio in Stannington, and are accompanied with a certificate of authenticity and signed by the artist and dated.
