Neil is a self-taught artist born in County Durham in 1970. From an early age he loved to sketch, often drawing pictures from his vivid imagination. His love of art began with surrealism, and Neil found himself drawn to not only the subject matter, but also the technique. This love of surrealism wasn’t just focused on art but also film, especially the movies of David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick. These influences lead him to seek out different artists and genres, including the works of Tamara de Lempicka, Edward Hopper and H R Giger, amongst many others.
Neil initially drew sketches with pencil, which progressed to working with different mediums, finally settling with acrylic paint and inks, mainly on paper. He loves to create scenes from his imagination, and while being influenced daily from ordinary everyday things, strives to create the unusual.
