Wendy Ann Stanger

Wendy is a textile Artist living in Northumberland. Her work is inspired by the natural landscapes of her home environment, the life cycles and seasons related to fauna and flora as well as the ecological changes, which cause various degrees of decomposition within plant forms.

Wendy uses the techniques of silk fusion and felting, using the flower’s natural dye, which bleeds into the fibres by embedding actual, pressed dry flowers into her artwork. The work is augmented with a wide variety of plant and animal fibres such as fleece, alpaca, bamboo, linen, cotton, silk, horsehair and feathers. She also adds vintage lace and yarns before freehand machine embroidering into the paper’s surface, using hand stitch and beads to further embellish the artwork.
