Originally from Teesside, I’ve lived nearly all my life in the North East, working as a graphic designer, then a primary teacher, eventually settling in the ancient market town of Morpeth. I took a break to look after my family, during which time I took part in several arts projects and found it hard to stop myself snatching the paints off the children. I began drawing again soon afterwards, and now combine my love of the local landscape with a lifelong passion for drawing and painting.
I’ve worked as an artist since 2008, specialising in landscapes, townscapes and illustrated maps. My giclee prints and cards can be found in a selection of galleries and craft shops throughout Newcastle and Northumberland. I also participate in the Network Artists Art Tour.
My pictures begin with pen drawings and evolve into busy, layered watercolour compositions which reflect my love of detail and colour, and hopefully a sense of fun. In future I intend to expand my portfolio to reflect many more interesting and well-loved places, both in Northumberland and beyond.
