Rasa Zilinskaite Solo Exhibition

As most of you know we have a great partnership with INNSiDE by Melia. This Partnership helps us showcase the North East’s greatest Artists. Every quarter we change our exhibition artist and this time the solo spotlight is on Rasa Zilinskaite!

Rasa Zilinskaite is the fourth artist to have her work in a solo exhibition at INNSiDE. For the exhibition, Rasa created some fantastic and unique pieces. Not only taking inspiration from where she lives, but from her travels around the globe!

Let’s take a look at how Rasa feels about the exhibition and some of the inspiration behind her paintings.

It is a wonderful opportunity to exhibit at the fantastic INNSiDE by Melia Newcastle Hotel space. I have chosen 13 of my latest paintings to represent the full range of my painting genres. I love painting landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, animals, portraits and nudes. My paintings across all the genres very often feature water. Bridges, buildings, lights reflecting in rivers, seas and lakes, fishing boats gently bobbling in harbours, powerful waves crashing on to the lighthouses, or water trickling down the fountains. My aim is to create evocative, decorative paintings, lively and full of joy.

I use acrylic inks to create my paintings. It is a very light fast medium, suitable for very bright room, direct sunlight.

Please let me introduce the paintings featured in my exhibition:

This painting combines beautifully everything I love to paint: amazing historical buildings and fantastic contemporary architecture, tall boats and a moving boat making lots of lovely ripples. Royal Albert Dock is a historical place that is important and so much loved by so many people.

Earl Grey’s Monument

Earl Grey's Monument Original Acrylic on Canvas by Rasa Zilinskaite

Earl Grey’s Monument, INNSiDE Exhibition – North East Art Collective

Having painted Earl Greys Monument many times, I still love this square! It means home, it means good times, it means meeting friends. To think I’ve been meeting my friends here for 26 years ! I just gave myself an idea for a new painting titled ‘Meeting at Monument’. It’s not just that I like the monument itself but I have a huge respect for Lord Grey for taking part in developing democracy as a member of parliament and passing act of abolishing slavery in British Empire in 1833.

Vernazza, Italy
