When we first opened the doors to our unique gallery in 2010, our aim was to have a gallery that devoted itself to the North East.
We have now established that here at North East Art Collective. Our vision is ‘With Pride and Passion we support people within the North East to create opportunities to flourish whilst celebrating our unique talent, culture and heritage around the world.’
When we started, we had 40 artists, who we praise for their assistance in building the foundations for what we have now become, displaying the work of over 150 of the North East’s most gifted artists. We could not have done it without those who first believed in our vision of the future.
In the heart of Eldon Garden Shopping Centre (which is in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne) we offer a unique ‘not on the high street’ presence. We are the essence of Art, Culture and Luxury, but unlike most we do not pick our artists for their names and monetary values; we select them based on their talent. Our standards are high, and quality is even higher.
In our 11 display rooms we showcase the art of our region in all media from Watercolour to Acrylic, Oil to Pastels as well as Photography, Glass, Ceramics, Woodwork and Jewellery. We offer all who visit the chance to see as much local talent as possible. The gallery is filled from floor to ceiling, we try our absolute best to ensure we have something for everyone, every budget and every occasion. We refresh our stock on a weekly basis, so if you have visited the gallery previously it is always worth visiting again.
Along our journey we have not gone unnoticed. In 2014 we were named one of the UK’s Top 100 Small Businesses, leading to a visit to Downing Street, with the help of some other great local businesses. In the last 4 years we have worked with a number of local charities and have run events for them within the gallery, raising in excess of £20,000.
