Isn’t it about time we had an Art Gallery in The North East that devoted itself to our local talent?
Well now we have, North East Art Collective!
We first opened the doors to our unique gallery in 2010. At the time we had 40 artists, who we praise for their assistance in building the foundations for what we have become; now displaying the work of over 150 of the North Easts most amazing talents, we couldn’t have done it without those that believed in our crazy ethos.
Hidden in the heart of Eldon Garden, a shopping centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, we offer a ‘not on the high street’ presence. We are the essence of Art, Culture and Luxury. But unlike most we don’t pick our artists for their names and monetary values we select them based on their talent. Our standards are high and quality is even higher.
In our 11 display rooms we showcase the art of our region in all mediums from Watercolour to Acrylic, Oil to Pastels, Photography, Glass, Ceramics, and Jewellery our product range goes on and we never stop adding to it. We offer all who visit the chance to see as much local talent as possible filled from floor to ceiling, we try our very best to ensure we have something for everyone, every budget and every occasion.
Over the last several years we have thrived: In 2014 we were named one of the UK’s Top 100 Small Businesses. This led to our adventure to Downing Street, there we had a log cabin outside of No. 10 filled with as much as we could carry, luckily thanks to the help of North East England Chamber of Commerce we didn’t have to carry it ourselves, local company Ferguson’s picked up our gallery replica and delivered us there and back in perfect condition.
In 2015 our Managing Director returned to London with the aim of making people aware of the talent that exists on our doorstep, and to help the local economy and region to grow. So this time round with the help of the public voting he won the award for Best Male Entrepreneur and through this he attended a one on one consultation with the ex-owner of Bravissamo Michelle Mone, what an amazing honour for John and our gallery.
When we first opened we promised not only to showcase established artists, but also to show works from new and emerging talent including some of the best works from students around the region. John Thompson stated, “We have the highest standards here at North East Art Collective and want to show the cream of the crop of local art.”
We believe that as we have grown over the years we have fulfilled our promise at every opportunity, and we intend to continue to uphold this promise as we continue to grow.
