Barbara Bowden is a self-taught artist working mainly in watercolours but also continues to paint miniature oils. Her work concentrates mostly on landscapes. Born in Norfolk where she qualified as a General nurse and Midwife, she moved to Northumberland in the 1970’s and continued her career. Retirement has offered more time to devote to her painting, and she has held 3 exhibitions during that time.
“I have found the beauty of Northumberland to be truly inspiring and although I started painting miniature landscapes of the coast and castles in oils, I have found watercolours more readily reflect my feelings for this part of England. My work consists almost entirely of landscapes, specialising in Northumberland scenery and Heritage, the Lake District and Norfolk Broadlands.”
