Graham Caffull

Arriving in the North-East in the late 1970’s to study architecture at Newcastle University; Graham settled and worked in the region for 25 years before health issues forced him to leave his profession as a Chartered Building Surveyor. Graham has always enjoyed art and has a background in drawing and watercolour painting, often involving buildings in the landscape, but he now works in a wide range of media. Maps have fascinated him for as long as he can remember and, in recent years, they have found their way into his artwork. Graham now finds inspiration in identifying familiar places and features on old, discarded maps and using them to create his intricate drawings and paintings. If you have a particular place you would like to be represented in this way, Graham would be more than happy to try to source an appropriate map and produce a work of art specifically for you.
