Arriving in the North-East in the late 1970’s to study architecture at Newcastle University; Graham settled and worked in the region for 25 years before health issues forced him to leave his profession as a Chartered Building Surveyor.
Graham has always enjoyed art and has a background in drawing and watercolour painting, often involving buildings in the landscape, but he now works in a wide range of media.
Maps have had a hypnotic effect on him for as long as he can remember and they have occasionally found their way into his art work. Recently, Graham has found inspiration in identifying familiar places on maps, and has simply been using old, discarded Ordnance Survey and other maps as a base for intricate pen & ink drawings and miniature watercolours.
If you have a particular place you would like to be represented in this way, Graham would be more than happy to try to source an appropriate map and produce a work of art specifically for you.
