Kate Miller

Kate works from her studio in Newcastle upon Tyne, making prints using a variety of techniques, including linocut, woodblock, monoprint, nature printing and drypoint etching. She also makes collages from paper, and collage elements feature increasingly in her prints, creating a layered effect which adds both depth and texture to her work.   Kate works on 2 collections, one featuring views of the North East, including the dramatic coastal castles of Northumberland, the beaches and monuments of Tyneside and the countryside around Hadrian’s Wall, and the second an exploration of plants, leaves and seed heads, found both in her garden and growing wild in hedgerows. The botanical work is created using a technique developed herself, involving pressing the plants and printing directly from them, cutting and collaging those prints to create the final composition.
