Rod is an artist mainly in sepia watercolours, although he produces work in pen pencil and acrylic. His paintings are representational and in a style that reflects the character of the subject and surrounds.
Born in Newcastle and now retired from a career in marketing and advertising, he now lives in Ponteland. A self-taught artist, his paintings are in many a Northumberland home.
My painting was inspired at first by the Northumberland countryside developing into a love of its buildings, the colour of sepia tints and shadows, I feel, best reflect the natural tones of the different materials and indeed the moorland sandstone peaty rivers and streams of our county.
All watercolours are painted on the finest handmade paper and presented in a clean, modern and sympathetic mount and frame.
