Sarah Farooqi is a watercolour artist specialising in landscapes, townscapes and illustrated maps. Her pictures begin with pen drawings and evolve into busy watercolour collages which reflect a love of detail and colour, and a sense of fun. Whilst working on commissions, she also exhibits in a small selection of galleries and craft shops throughout Northumberland. She grew up in Teesside, and trained as a graphic designer in Leeds. Sarah now lives in Morpeth and has worked as an artist since 2009, recently moving to a studio at Gallery 45 in Felton.
“My influences are varied but favourite artists include Arthur Rackham, Grayson Perry, and the Cornish naive painter Alfred Wallis. I also love the intricate patterns and stories in Aboriginal art and illuminated manuscripts.”
Alongside a selection of originals, Sarah’s work is available as individually signed and titled giclee prints in many different sizes, including miniatures and also greetings cards.
