How Our INNSiDE Partnership began
In the middle of lockdown no.2 we made connections with the INNSiDE by Melia Hotel. Whilst in the early stages of planning to open, the hotel was looking for artwork to be displayed in a selection of the hotel rooms and on the Mezzanine Gallery. What a perfect connection!
The INNSiDE by Melia brand actively promotes the culture of its location and offers an exhibition of local art as part of this. The artistic styles in line with the INNSiDE brand cover retro art, illustration and graffiti along with many more artistic styles. INNSiDE enter into a unique partnership with a local gallery to help them source and promote the very best of local artists. Together the Hotel Manager and Gallery Manager select the artists to feature their artwork for a 3 month Solo Exhibition.
Showcasing only talented artists from our region, made us (North East Art Collective) a perfect fit for INNSiDE Newcastle. The partnership couldn’t be better suited!
Solo Exhibitions
As lockdown hit for a third time, we saw further delays in getting our exciting new partnership off the ground. Our first Solo Exhibition had been sitting, unable to be seen by the public. Until finally May 2021 arrived and guests could visit the hotel. The Christine O’Donnell Exhibition received great feedback but with Social distancing we couldn’t celebrate the way we wanted.
Then came July and our First Exhibition change over was again affected by social distancing. The Deborah Cauchi display went down a ‘storm’! Filled with Logo and Storm Troopers at every turn; the Mezzanine was the visual that INNSiDE had hoped for. Retro Art for all to love!
Then came November and our next Solo Exhibition was ready to hang. This time with restrictions eased we got to celebrate the change over. An exclusive Invite only evening; Join us for Prosecco, Canapes and the chance to meet both Deborah Cauchi and New Solo Exhibition artist Mick Brown. What an amazing night, a year in the making from when we first made our partnership. It was unbelievable to finally be able to celebrate our Solo Exhibition artists.
Over a wet and windy winter Mick Browns Exhibition has filled the Mezzanine with colour and hope for a sun filled summer. The feedback has been non stop on how dramatic and eye-catching the collection is. Now as Mick’s Solo Exhibition comes to end we are incredibly excited to have a selection of the work coming to the gallery.
What’s Next
Following Mick will be a Solo Exhibition of works by Rasa Zilinskaite. Like Mick, Rasa’s work is filled with colour but is more impressionistic than abstract. Personally picked by Shireen and Calum we hope you are excited to see what Rasa has created!
