Green Woodpecker
For such a large and colourful bird, the green woodpecker is a
difficult character to see. You can hear them laughing from deep in the woods, but if they see you first they will hide behind the tree trunk
and you’ll be none the wiser. My characterisation captures the
colourful beauty of the male, in a pose you may be lucky enough to see
if he’s slurping up ants on the ground. Framed in white he’s a proper
room-brightener.
